Seachtain na Gaeilge 2
Kicking off the second week of Seachtain na Gaeilge, we invited Ciarán Benstead and Fergal Enright to the club for a Caint (Lecture). A bilingual lecture, it was well received by those that attended who found it both interesting and worthwhile. The lecture itself was followed by some live traditional music and of course, tea and sandwiches.
On the Friday, the club held its Tráth na gCeist (Irish language Quiz). This was very well attended and competitive throughout, as with any quiz held in the club! Some unseasonal snow could be seen through the newly installed windows, but inside the competition was nothing short of searing hot as Jim Herron steered his team to victory.
The following day a hardy bunch made their way up Divis for the Siúlóid Sléibhte (Mountain Walk). The walk was stewarded by Jake Mac Siacais and all involved were glad of the tea, soup and sandwiches laid on by the club afterwards to warm the cold hands of the mountaineers.
On the Sunday a number of Scór Workshops were held in the club. These were well attended by the children who took part enthusiastically. The workshops included singing, drama and dancing and generated much interest for Scór na nÓg later in the year.
This year’s events for Seachtain na Gaeilge were very well received and the club hopes to build on this for next year’s events. Roll on 2012!
